Sun protection system for corner areas honoured with German Design Award 2025

Anyone opting for large glass surfaces in corner areas attaches particular importance to a clear, elegant look, rooms flooded with light, and a high-quality appearance - and shading solutions shall not detract from the aesthetic effect.

The textile sun protection system heroal VS Z corner solution convinced the jury of the German Design Award with its successful combination of innovative shading and sophisticated design. ‘The zip-guided sun protection system for all-glass corners impresses as an elegant solution for protection against solar radiation in challenging architectural settings. The independent control of the textile screens enables flexible adaptation to individual requirements and stands out for its clear functionality and aesthetic integration into modern buildings,’ said the jury.

Sun protection system heroal VS Z corner solution

The heroal VS Z corner solution consists of two textile screens with zip guides on the sides, and a patented stainless steel cable guide in the corner area, providing for effective sun protection at corners (e.g. all-glass corners). Particularly ingenious: The textiles are guided with separate end strips, both of which run in just one cable guide. This means that the screens can be controlled independently of each other and adjusted to the position of the sun. Areas of up to 9 square metres per textile screen can be created. In addition to protection against glare, prying eyes and heat, the heroal VS Z corner solution offers protection against insects by adding insect screen doors or frames, which use spacer profiles and matching decorative caps. The heroal VS Z corner solution does not only stand out for its functional advantages: it also scores highly in terms of aesthetics. Around 250 standard textiles are available when selecting the textile screen - from semi-transparent for natural daylight inside the building, to opaque for almost complete blackout. When the textile screen is not in use, it disappears into the heroal surface-mounted box system (sizes 105 and 125 mm). The stainless steel cable guide ensures a unobtrusive connection of the textile screens in the corner area. The subtle design also shows in the textile guidance at the sides, using guide rails with a particularly small face width of only 25 mm. The guide rails and box system can be fully plastered in, if required. The coating of the extruded components with the highly weather-resistant heroal hwr powder coating creates additional freedom of design.
